I am in the early stages of building a Mk2 in my standard size, single garage. I have started from scratch, from stripping a 2001 MX5, through renovating and replacing those parts, to beginning to put them on the chassis.
I do not have a time scale yet as I prefer to engineer it properly, without rushing. When reading media reports, even regular builders seem to paint themselves into a corner with deadlines, but I prefer the methodical approach.
The journey is slow but I am enjoying the challange and some banter from a neighbour who is building a Gardner Douglas 437. Together we bounce ideas off each other and that makes the whole process a lot easier and a pleasurable experience. I recommend such an approach.
I look forward to the continuing journey and to meeting like minded owners and builders along the way. My blog gives a better idea of what I have done and where I am going. It’s shortcut is on the front page…thanks Mike.
