Hi everyone. Im Geoff. I live in Dorset near Bournemouth and have recently started a Mk 3 2L build. Probably the most Southerly Enigma!!

So far Ive been stripping down a perfectly good sports car into a pile of scrap and Im looking forward to doing something constructive soon. Im nearly at the point where I can lift the body shell off of the subframes and transmission assembly. Hoping everything is disconnected and the big lift goes to plan.

Ive removed the old wiper assembly from the Mazda and its far too big to go in the new cars housing. What have other people done? Am I going to have to buy a whole new assembly working on a different principle?

Hope to hear back from you guys soon.

Hi Geoff, welcome to the club and good luck with your build.

I am in the process of building a V8 version which is throwing up some interesting problems but none insurmountable. If you want to text me your email address or mobile number I will send you a photo of how the wiper mechanism fits. Roy has just finished his 2ltr one so he would be a good contact for you along with Martin and Malcolm for detailed information.

    Speak to you soon,

Well its just over 18 months since I first started disemboweling the Mazda and I havent written anything since I started, so heres how its going.

Its nearly finished!! Its currently up in Manchester getting painter at the place that did Roys mark 3. Why take it to Manchester you ask. Price. I got a few quotes down here and they varied from £5000 to £6700. Roys man is doing it for about £3ooo, hence the long drive. After that there are a few things to do to get it through the IVA such as removing the airbags, getting the lights in order (minus the foglights, which come on without the headlights, so cant be included). Im not yet happy with the front ride height, so more fiddling around with spacers might happen too. Other than that its ready to go.

What do you guys think about getting the engine remapped and getting a boost in HP? Im a bit concerned that the bigger wheels will reduce torque too much. Has anyone else got an opinion on this?

So with any luck I will be legally on the road by October at the latest.Gettting ready for the paint job a few weeks ago

Thought Id share a couple of pics from 2 years ago when my late wife and I went up to Martin’s place for a test drive.

Feel free to use in gallery if you think they are good enough.
